Association Leader Took $415,000 For Her Own Use

by Gary Snyder

Former CEO of the Summit Association of Realtors Sue Frank on Monday entered a plea of guilty to a class three felony theft offense after embezzling over $415,000 from her former employer. The 62-year-old faces a prison sentence of up to seven years, and must make restitution for the entirety of the financial loss she caused.

Frank forged checks and made unauthorized transfers into her personal bank account.

“The many recent cases of financial abuse in this and neighboring communities is stunning. We encourage all organizations to review and strengthen financial controls, protecting against theft and embezzlement,” said Fifth Judicial District Attorney Bruce Brown in a written statement. “These theft cases are of increasing frequency and magnitude, indicating that deceitful employees see an easy mark and craft mechanisms to get their hands on money. Business owners have to use the utmost care in making sure that the people they trust, are indeed trustworthy.” (source)
